Cookie Policy

Last updated 4 August 2026

What cookies and similar technologies we use on this website, what they do, and how to control them.

Before you publish: the consent banner on this site blocks analytics until a visitor opts in, which is what the ePrivacy Directive requires. If you later add advertising tags, they must be gated the same way. Have this reviewed under ePrivacy and GDPR before launch.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. They let a site remember things between page loads — that you are signed in, or which options you chose. Similar technologies such as local storage and pixels do comparable jobs, and this policy covers those too.

This policy applies to the picyfood.com website. The PicyFood mobile app does not use cookies; it stores an authentication token securely on your device so you stay signed in. See our Privacy Policy for what the app collects.

What this site stores

This website is a simple information site. It stores only what it needs to remember your cookie choice.

NamePurposeDurationType
picyfood_consent Remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics, so we do not ask again. Stored in your browser's local storage, not sent to our servers. Until you clear site data Essential

Essential storage does not require consent because the site cannot honour your choice without it. Everything else does.

We set no advertising cookies, and no third party sets cookies through this site.

Analytics on this site

Analytics on this website is off until you accept it. If you accept, we load a measurement script that counts visits and shows which pages people read. It is aggregated and not used to identify you, and we never use it for advertising.

You can change your mind at any time — see “Changing your choice” below.

The mobile app

The PicyFood app does not use cookies — it is not a browser. It stores an authentication token securely on your device so you stay signed in, and keeps your favourites and meal plans cached locally so they work offline.

The app does use Firebase for crash reporting and product analytics. That is a different mechanism from cookies and is covered in full in our Privacy Policy, including exactly which events we record and how to switch collection off on your device.

Controlling cookies

In your browser

Every major browser lets you see stored cookies, delete them, and block them — entirely or per site. Look under Settings → Privacy. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of this site working.

On your device, for advertising

  • iOS — Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, to stop apps requesting to track you
  • Android — Settings → Privacy → Ads, to delete or opt out of your advertising ID

Changing your choice

Clear this site's data in your browser (Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data, for this site only). The banner will appear again on your next visit and you can choose differently.

Changes & contact

We will update this policy whenever the cookies we use change. The date at the top shows the most recent revision.
